Leaf and flower of Tagetes lucida
Hierbanís is Tagetes lucida, dried as leaf and flower together, in a 2 oz bag. You also hear it called yerbanís, pericón and santa maría. In English it goes by Mexican mint marigold, and that name tells you the family it belongs to, the marigolds.
The bag prints no method and no origin. This is an herb people buy because they already know it, from home or from the herbalist at the mercado, and brew by the recipe they grew up with. Look for the flower heads among the leaves when you scoop, and take some of both into each pot, since the bag sells the two parts together.
In the YERBERO collection, Hierbanís is filed under H in the herbolario A–Z, next to Hoja de higo.
