Two barks, two bags
You get two resealable bags sold as a pair. One holds palo de víbora, the root and bark of the árbol de la víbora. The other holds quina roja, red cinchona bark. Pick the pair by weight: 3 oz with 2 oz, 4 oz with 4 oz, 8 oz with 8 oz, or a pound of each.
Because the barks stay in separate bags, you can brew either one alone or put both in the same pot, as the bag allows. The bag names the two plants, Tabernaemontana catharinensis for palo de víbora and Cinchona pubescens for quina roja, and prints a short steep: a tablespoon in a strainer, hot water over it, covered three to five minutes. Read the note about cinchona bark on this page before your first cup, and keep the two bags apart on the shelf so you always know which bark you are measuring.
In the YERBERO catalog, Palo de víbora y quina roja is filed under Q in the herbolario A–Z, next to Romero.
