Crushed leaf, measured by the spoon
Pata de vaca reaches you crushed, not whole: the dried leaf of Bauhinia forficata, wildcrafted in Mexico. The bag prints a short steep. One tablespoon goes into a strainer in a mug or teapot, hot water goes over it, and the cup sits covered three to five minutes before you lift the strainer out.
The product description gives a longer cocimiento: a tablespoon to 12 oz of water, boiled 15 minutes, then 10 minutes covered off the heat. Because the leaf is already broken, a tablespoon is a steady measure either way and you never count leaves. The 0.75 oz bag holds 20 or more servings, and our 8 oz bag is more than ten times the leaf.
In the YERBERO catalog, Pata de vaca is filed under P in the herbolario A–Z, next to Polen de abeja.
